The eco-friendly bamboo I

Bamboo is one of the flowering perennial evergreen plant of the grass family.

It is also one of t fasting-growing plants in the world. Once cut, a bamboo plant will regenerate
quickly without replanting making it most sustainable.

In every Asian Country where bamboos grow, it is found in every home used as
kitchen utensils, ornaments, furniture, food, etc.etc.etc....

Bamboo made fibres are made into towels or bed linens which are environmentally friendly,
100%!

According to BAMBOO PLANET:
"One of the most positive things about bamboo is that it absorbs 35% more carbon dioxide than equivalent stands of trees, more bamboos will help cut the globally rising levels of CO2 and help in fight against global warming"!

Now we have more reasons to grow bamboo and save the Earth!

Water is very valuable to our environment.

Water is a very simple element and sometimes taken for granted.
Here at Toucheng Leisure Farm, we use water every minute everyday. For washing, cleaning, watering plants ,etc.etc...etc...

Toucheng Leisure Farm has 3 streams around its vicinity, which flows water from the eternal spring on top of the Snow Mountain. This is very precious to the Farm because it gives it a natural source of fresh, clean and abundant water.

Toucheng Leisure Farm is an Experimental School and includes the Rice Culture and Rice  Paddy lessons right in the middle of the Farm.
Rice is a semi-aquatic plant which requires a high demand for water consumption. So the abundant water supply around the Farm makes it a convenient and appropriate venue for this activity.

The Farm's fishpond is also a water consuming area. Tilapia and Carps are the kinds of fishes swimming around the pond. Guests can enjoy a lazy dusk or dawn time to catch a small or big fish for an additional dish for the BBQ dinner.

Inside the Farm is the Cangjiu Winery complete with a wine cellar. The water used for wine making is from the Snow Mountain spring water  which gives a special taste to the wine. Vinegar is also a product made in the Winery. A shop is located on the ground floor to sell wine and vinegar to guests who ask for it.

That and many more are the reasons why water is valuable to our environment.

Recycling old, used newspapers

Old issues of daily newspapers are bought by Toucheng Leisure Farm not to review the past news of the past weeks or months, but for some different reasons.

During the T-shirt printing or green bag printing process, old newspapers are useful materials to prevent the dyes to stain  the other side of the shirt or bag.

After the printing these old, used and stained newspapers are gathered and reserved for another purpose.

At the kilning area old newspapers are used to burn for fire starters. Only then will this useful, humble paper material vanished, but not totally, they will return to the soil as fertilizer or part and parcel of the earth!

During the sky lantern making old, used  newspapers are also a help for absorbing the excess
colored paint used for writing one's wishes and prayers on the lantern. Otherwise, the wet
paper will affect its fragility and the weight of the lantern causing it to fly slower to the sky.

These little and insignificant acts may seem unnoticed, but they meant a lot on our ways to save the earth.

We do our part Toucheng Leisure Farm's style to make the earth a safe and healthy place to live, for ourselves, our sons and daughters and for all future inhabitants of our beautiful world!

How do you do your share?
